HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

I can't believe I missed marking a very important milestone in Australian TV history. Last Thursday (January 21) was the 30 year anniversary of ARCADE beginning on air (and sadly the end was just a few weeks later). So as drunk yobbos with Southern Cross tattoos and Aussie flags draped around their necks like Superman capes barbecue sausages at beaches everywhere in this great land, here a few clips that make me proud to be an Australian. Like Barry Crocker, Abigail singing, Cameron Daddo on IT'S A (CELEBRITY) KNOCKOUT, Rebecca Gilling on HOLIDAY ISLAND, Patrick Ward's bum on ARCADE, Johnny Farnham and Sigrid Thornton on BOBBY DAZZLER, Belinda Giblin on MATLOCK POLICE and Mel Gibson (pictured here frolicking in the nude with his GALLIPOLI mates and is there anything more ocker than that?) on the doomed PRISONER male clone called PUNISHMENT ...

Andrew, with these clip shows you share with us, why can't the stations replay those at 3am or even on the extra 2nd channel? If they can't repeat the shows these clip shows promote, they could repeat the specials. I love them and their corniness!!

Hi Andrew, thank you for sharing Barry Crocker and his cult shockers... I have that old Channel 10 special on VHS somewhere but hadn't seen it for ages... love that segment from Arcade with the girl reading the script off the table! Such a shame the show can't be revived on DVD, although must not be long now before Number 96 DVD #3 comes out? Very much looking forward to that!

I did a recent post on my blog for the 30th anniversary of Channel 0 changing to 10, which coincided with the launch of Arcade in Melbourne

Television AU, your blog about 0 changing to 10 is fabulous.
NUMBER 96 DVD #3 is out on march 13 - the 38th anniversary of the show's premiere.

Mattman - I agree, why can't more classic series be repeated on digital like 7TWO is doing. If only Go were playing CHANCES or YOUNG DOCTORS ....

thank you for the kind words Andrew. I will be ready for Number 96 on March 13.. very appropriate date for the release I agree.

And speaking of classic soaps, pity GO couldn't dig out some of the classic '80s gems from Channel 9... Starting Out (I actually liked that show but I was only 11!), Possession, Prime Time, any others that I've forgotten??

Taurus Rising, Kings, Family & Friends, Waterloo Station, Willing and Abel ... OK some of those aren't worth seeing again but the point is, Nine surely has repeat rights to many of them so why not use them>
